CalebOWolf

So I have made an older posts that talked about my ryzen 7 system but ever since I learned about ryzen threadripper. Things have changed since I've made a parts List on PCPartPicker.

Let me know what you think.

Don't get Threadripper for gaming, it's not worth it.

Get some kind of SSD as well, at that kind of budget, you should be able to afford one.

Gotta say, solid solid build overall. Couple notes:

You will feel the sluggishness of a hard drive as boot drive. I feel like you can spare the funds for an SSD. NVMe is nice, but a SATA SSD will do.

You got that nice prosumer CPU, why not take advantage of the quad channel. Getting 4 dimms will do nicely.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

The 1900x isn't bad, it actually overclocks higher than the r7 1700x because of the huge heat spreader. Also, dat cache doe

Threadripper doesn't have very good gaming performance compared to some other chips though.

Like 2nd gen ryzen or Intel?

Of course, idk if OP is doing a productivity build for some use in gaming and wants to up the core count later on.

It's titled "Gaming PC", but fair point.
