Which headset should I get?

I am back in school and I need a good headset that I can use in class and elsewhere. I already have a decent one at home so I'm looking for something to take out and about. I've been debating back and forth with myself but I think I have ended on wanting a pair with active noise cancelling which I know does reduce sound quality and increase price, but if I am to get through school I need a pair that can help me get rid of all the noice that is in a classroom. I have epilepsy which is concentration related and I'm just very sensitive to any kind of sounds while concentrating (Except for music) so I do need something that I can listen to at low volume while still hearing nothing of the outside world. For this active noise cancelling is king as far as I'm concerened, if you think there are other, better options, please let me know.

There are however quite a few out on the market and I can't make a decision. What is the best in terms of:

•Noice cancelling

•Sound quality

•Built quality

•Comfort (I wear glasses)

Price is ofc a factor but I have been looking at the Bose QC35 which are quite pricey, so lets say thats my range. Wireless is a pro but if its wired its not a deal breaker. Also, are there any in-ear I should consider over the headsets?

Music that I like is a mixed bag. I do have a soft spot for metal but then again for studying I might choose something else so balance is important. I am not an audiophile by any means. In the past I've had headsets like Logitech 7.1 bullshit that I've found okay. I had a Senheiser game zero at one point which I enjoyed and now I'm sitting pretty on a pair of Beyerdynamic Custom One Pro Plus which I think sounds great. But if you ask me to explain why I think so I'll roll my shoulders say "I haven't the foggiest idea" maybe if I wanted to impress you I'd say I like the balance between the high's and the low's with the slight hint of treble and a smoky aftertaste, aka again I don't have a clue.

I apologize if there are threads like this. I just wanna find the right fit for me and my taste.

I once explained to my girlfriend what true love is. I said, "If you were a shit, I'd put you back in" and to this day, she is still my little shit.

I did this about a year ago, and without writing a long post about it I'll give you a short list to try:

Disclosure, my listening is more fun with a great sound stage. My daily's are: Sony MDR-1000X, Astro A50 (soon to be Audeze Mobius), Audeze LCD-X, and Audeze iSine 20

  • Sony WH-1000XM3 (I went with the Original MDR-1000X)
  • Bose QC35 - The industry standard, very good headphone with great features
  • Sennheiser PXC550 (could also try the Sennheiser HD 4.50 BTNC) - light on bass, great detail
  • B&O H9i - Nothing compares to how these are built/look/feel, sound is good, app is okay
  • B&W PX - Big bass, not too bad detail, built well

Basically the B&W PX and B&O H9i have the most flare when it comes to looks/feel, but both seem to be tuned towards the low end IMO (likely due to being used in noisy areas where low end vanishes first in my experience). Sony/Bose are both great headphones, I found the Sony to give a tighter base response and have a little more detail. Reviews found the noise cancelling to be on-par or better than the QC35.

None of these are headsets, but are great headphones for people on the go. If you're after something more versatile and for gaming, I've just ordered the Audeze Mobius which will have everything you want except noise cancelling. I haven't tested it yet, so I'm relying on my experience with other Audeze products and the plethora of reviews around (I have Astro A50's for my headset at the moment).

I meant headphones. I use the Beyerdynamic for gaming and a standalone mic. I always mix headset and headphones.

Thank you for your response

How is the batterylife?
