Improving audio bit depth

Hi.

I wanted to ask you if improving microphone or sound quality changes something? For example, is any point to set microphone bit depth to 24 bits 96000 hz not for recording, but using on discord? Also audio quality on games like fortnite or youtube?

Discord compresses audio to up to 128kbps Opus (from what I remember, anyway) at what's probably either 24000 Hz or 48000 Hz.

I doubt Fortnite makes use of a decent codec; hell, even CS:GO, Dota and TF2 only use Opus at 24000 Hz. So basically, might as well leave it at 16-bit 48kHz.
