Z170 Help!

So I just got a Z170-A and spent the last like 2 hours putting everything onto it and cable managing, and then it’s literally not fucking booting. I want to reformat my boot drive so i can fresh install windows and use the board. But I literally can’t even get it to show me the boot Menu. It’s just a straight black screen. Does anyone have any knowledge here?

Would help if we knew what other components you got. Especially the cpu because if it's a 7 series kaby lake processor, then you'll need a bios update for it to work.

GTX 1060 6GB

Intel Core I7 6700K

16 GB’s Ram(2x 8GB sticks)

A bit of context would also help. Did you just upgrade the motherboard, meaning that the other components are confirmed working? Checked all cables? What exactly happens if you press the power button?

All of the components work perfectly. I was just using them all on my old board just before this. I’m honestly unsure whether my Pled cables are correctly placed. When I turn on the power it acts like it boots fans spin, led’s on the board flash but no video output no matter what.

Some more context would be helpful. Did you buy the Z170-A as a replacement for another board? Did you buy it new or used? What RAM? Which slots is it installed in? Storage? Cooling?

The board was bought off amazon used. The Ram is installed in the two right most slots, and my CPU is being cooled by a Coolmaster (like the super popular one I can’t think of it off the top of my head). As for Ram it’s DDR4

And yes it is a replacement for an old board.

So you actually don't have a video output. Tried another dp/hdmi cable? Another port on the gpu? Is the gpu receiving power? Maybe the pcie slot is broken, move the gpu down to the second x16 pcie slot and see if that helps.

I was going off of my motherboards video output not even the GPU.

Also I’m aware it’s getting power because the fans spin up when I start the system.

Okay i was able to get the get the GPU going now. So i can get into windows. What should I do now? Because I want to reformat windows correct?
