current setup:

3470s, 650Ti, Z68 MOBO, 16gb 1600MHz, 24" 1080p monitor, NEX 750B PSU, 1tb +500GB HDDs (games) 250GB SSD (boot). and a huge corsair case.

what I want to upgrade to:

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/s2FFCb

I have an Asus essence STX II that I will use as my main audio interface

I was wondering if 8GB of ram is enough for gaming and if the monitor I choose is any good.

The 580 8GB will be bought from amazon

that looks plenty fine. Upgrading to another 8gb of ram down the line will do nicely. I'm assuming you're reusing storage?

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

there are cheaper screens, (LG ones i think)

why is the rx 580 170$?

mabye look at a used 3770k or even a 4790k so you can keep your ram and mobo.

ebay, well i wanted to move to the AM4 socket, because it's going to be supported for a long time. and its $200 for a 3770k, the whole upgrade to ryzen would cost $315, so its pointless to me to get a old cpu. 4790k is the wrong socket

you can get a 3770k for 150 or less if you snag an auction (not hard)

you will get to keep your 16gb of ram. the 3770k will have better per core perf anyways.

you can also look at used ryzen too.

I HIGHLY recommend you get the 2700 as you get 8 core 16 threads instead of 6x12. This extra cost will allow the pc to last longer b4 next upgrade.

Yeah, you won't regret going with a 2700. Might be a little bit cheaper to get a 1700, though.

the little you save on the 1700 is mot if you have 3400Mhz RAM but anything slower and I seen performance hits. The 2700 doesn't have as big a issue with this.
