After an unfortunate coffee incident I recently upgraded my keyboard to a corsair k70 (Oh Faithful Logitech G15 I still miss you :()

In the last couple of days my machine died (I think its probably the graphics card and am waiting till the weekend to troubleshoot using a spare card, otherwise upgrade time Woo hoo)

However it got me thinking the new Keyboard with its 100+ leds lit up all the time could this be an unnecessary strain on the Motherboards USB power delivery?

Am I going to be better off plugging My Keyboard/mouse/ etc into an externally powered USB hub then into the main computer

But would this introduce control lag when gaming (a millisecond here a millisecond there, it all adds up and soon I may as well be using a console)

What are peoples thought in this?

Is this a good Idea, or proof My Mother did drop me on my head when i was a baby?
