Hard drive

How do I Know which hard drive is compatible with my motherboard? I’m currently using a msi z370 gaming plus, I’m looking to get a SSD and HDD. Any help is appreciated.

Any sata drive is compatible. That motherboard also has an m.2 slot.

I'd probably use this site here to get an idea.  Maybe even peruse the manual to get specifics.

Any Sata drive is, you have M.2 and the manual will explain what m.2 drives steal bandwidth from what sata ports or PCIe slots, etc.

Here is the relevant info on your motherboard, but someone else will have to help me with it.  It says the SATA1 port will be unavailable if you use a M.2 sata ssd, but if you use a NVME (PCIe) M.2, will the SATA1 be available then since you're using PCIe lanes?

 

Otherwise any brick type sata SSD or HDD will be compatible no problem at all.

You can, yep.  To be honest, there isn't a HDD or SDD you can't use   It's when you have many that you run into issues really.  They they can conflict cuz your mobo can only support so many. 

 

Are you going for a boot ssd?  Do you have a larger drive for mass storage?

 

Just asking if you want/need help picking out drives for your specific purpose.

This is strictly for boot and to have my OS nothing else ?? And thanks for the info
