All audio cuts out

Whenever I’m streaming using Streamlabs OBS with Spotify in the background, it happens more, but it will happen wherever, all of my audio cuts out, including audio in to my stream and discord. It’s been happening for awhile, but happens more frequently now. I personally think it has something to do with the driver for my Focusrite Scarlet 2i2, because that still picks up audio from my mic, but nothing else does, and it kinda fixes itself when I unplug and plug it back in, but I always have to restart Spotify in order for music to start playing again, and I always have to restart Streamlabs OBS in order for that to pick up any audio.

 

any ideas?

I had an issue with the 2i2 that sounds similar to this like 3 years back, which generation 2i2 do you have?

Could you link a screenshot of what the 2i2 looks like in your sound settings?

Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Sound > Playback

I’m not at my moms with the setup right now, but I believe it is the 1st gen, because I remember I had to figure this out when I was downloading a driver for It.

I'm pretty sure this was the same issue I had, you likely don't have the latest driver because for whatever reason the actual latest driver isn't listed on the 2i2 Gen 1 download page.

I wouldn’t be able to get it to you until Friday, but I do know this: I downloaded this driver from the driver page in early January and haven’t updated it since.

Things could have changed since I had these problems 3+ years ago but depending on where you got the driver you could be using one far out of date.

I mean you're definitely out of date considering they released a new driver for both 1st & 2nd Gen 10 days ago:

Make sure that you uninstall the existing driver (control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features > Focusrite USB X) and restart your computer before installing the new one, Focusrite is notorious for having issues with stacked driver installation. 


I think there is a good chance it will fix your issues.
