Currently have a lan box with these specs

i3 6100

Itx z270 gigabyte mobo

8gb ram (soon to be 16)

Gtx 1070 SC

120gb SSD + 1tb HDD

450 watt sfx PSU

 

I'm looking for a cheap i5 (or even a super cheap i7 if that's possible) that would be worth upgrading to, primarily because the i3 struggles with playing most games, having 5 way video chats on discord, and YouTube playing in the background. So are there any CPU's worth upgrading to that can handle all that??

got a budget? I'll agree the i3 is holding your whole system back, and a better CPU would basically make it perfect, but how much can you spend? I say go for gold with an i7 6700 or 770, but IDK if you can afford it.

Relatively speaking I want the most bang for my buck which I totally get is probably a 3-400 buck CPU. But realistically I'd need to keep it under 200 if possible

Look for a used 7700k.

If it's out there for that cheap I'll absolutely get one, but I haven't seen anything for less than 300+ unfortunately

A used 6th generation i5 or i7 could be a good upgrade.
