Optane memory for data drive / SSD boot drive disappears on install

Hi,

 

On a impulse i picked op some optane memory as it should be possible to accelerate the data disk in my PC.

Well... that didn't work out. As soon as I installed the optane memory the boot SSD (samsung) was no longer visible in the bios.

I know it will not work to accelerate an ssd but shouldn't it be possible to install it and have it accelerate the data disk?

As the SSD is the boot drive it disappearing make the optane memory useless.

 

Any ideas / suggestions?

-My MB is a gigabyte x299 aorus gaming 7.

-SSD is a samsung 1TB SSD 850 evo

-a WD 4TB data drive

Guess this optane memory isn't all that popular
