I have openmediavault 3.0.96 (not the latest version because the latest version doesn't load, this is a common issue for some users on OMV with 4.x.x versions and above) installed on a 32GB USB drive for boot, with 2x 500GB WD Blue drives for storage. I just finished setting it up and nothing is on the drives, when I power it on and load OMV into the shell it boots but doesn't show an IP address.

When I run it headless connected to my router the light on the ethernet jack stays lit when it's off, then when I power it on it stays lit for a second then turns off, thus invisible to my network and can't access the web GUI. What could be causing the ethernet to shut off?

It's possible that dhcp didn't give it an address in time to show up on the motd (what you see when you first boot up).

Log in and issue:

ifconfig -a

Use the IP you see to log into your web interface.

You should probably set a static IP for it also so that router reboots/power outages/etc. don't cause you to have to log in and check what IP was assigned to your box after the aforementioned things happen.
