Hello,

I just got a Ryzen 2700x and thought that the stock cooling will be enough but I was very wrong, it stays at 55-60 degrees Celsius at ilde. And now i want to get my hands on a water cooler, something like:

Cooler Master MasterLiquid ML240L or Corsair H45 120mm

what do you guys think?

Excuse me what the fuck. I'm running 4.1 GHz right now with 2 VM's and quite a lot of things running in the background and I sit at 50°C so you gotta have made some mistake or your cooler needs to be RMAd. But I can guarantee you the cooler does it's job pretty good

That's definitely not normal. The 2700x's wraith prism is plenty enough.

Did you check if the cooler had thermal paste or not pre applied? Did you mount it correctly?

Ryzen 5 1600 @ 3.9 Ghz  | Gigabyte AB350M Gaming 3 |  PaliT GTX 1050Ti  |  8gb Kingston HyperX Fury @ 2933 Mhz  |  Corsair CX550m  |  1 TB WD Blue HDD

Inside some old case I found lying around.

it had a lot of paste on it. I had some problems with the mounting and i have done some adjustments while mounting to get it in the right position.

Stock thermal paste. Not even undervolted, just bumped the multiplier up a bit and that's it. There is a small "slider" on the Fan labeled with H and L iirc. Try switching that. Maybe your cooler doesnt speed up to what it should because of silent mode.

Maybe these "adjustments" caused the cooler to not be properly in contact with the IHS.

I got that slider on H = more RPM for the fan and also noticed that i let the sticker on the cooler (removed the stiker also). now my temps are on image.png.c224bb00bf75eee56692d355ac33e4bf.png

by it still has a very big variation when doing things all the way to 60 but it calms down quickly to 50 or less.

Thank you for the tips
