Synology DS1517+?

Any issues with the 1517+ for a general mass storage solution? I do not intend to run any VMs or media services, just storage. Is there a better solution for the same price range ($700ish) ? I like this one because it has the option to upgrade to 10gbit through the PCI slot in the future.

 

Also, is the 1618+ worth the extra $50?
