It is not showing in explorer because the 1862.48GB  is not formatted.
Right click on the "unallocated" bit, then click on one of the options in the little menu that pops up. Try stating with "New Simple Volume".

1gb = 1024MB.

However, no 2TB or any other "Advertised" size on an HDD,  SSHD or SSD is EVER actually what you get due to the fact it appears to be manufacturers rounding down 1gb from 1024MB, to 1000MB to "artificially" increase the "advertised" space availability.

Who would buy a 196.5GB drive? anyone?? So I can, from a certain point see why it is done....

EDIT:

Adding the trwo capacities shown in Computer manager of the 2TB drive, the total is 1863.29.

Also part of the reason might be that the drive might have built in "rescue" sectors that could be used instead of bad sectors that can form over time.

Not that I have ever known, though I will admit, I do NOT know everything.

Most HDD's/SSHD's I have had my paws on have been "on Spec" for MB and that matched, in most cases, to the GB when correctly calculated.

That difference between the calculated and the actual space could be the amount of space reserved for rescue sectors, because sectors are pretty small (512 bytes / 0.5kB).

Industries do it to make it easy to understand and they round figure the amount of so many things,

for example. 1 inch is 2.54 cm but on a normal scale its 2.5 cm.

so same as that 1024 GB is decreased to 1000 GB. and if you calculate all the space decreased you will get why space is always less than advertised.

actually, 1" is referred to as the millimeter equivelant, not by the CM, so it is referred to as 25.4 mil

I do know what you are saying though.  I understand it as well, I was just being simplistic about to avoid cconfusion.

And anyway, advertising something as, for example, 3000GB (3TB when it clearly ios not, is, to me, false advertising. It is just "accepted" that the lie, which, again, to me it is,  about hdd / sshd/ ssd size  is accepted by industry and by the General public.
