As a (relative) newb to MacOS x on a system, I am none the wiser as to what alternatives there are for progerams that I am familiar with and use within windows and this, fellow forum members, is where I need some help.

I am looking for the Mac alternative of the following programs and all help, pointers, information will be much appreciated.

What are the Mac alternatives to:

Programs:

Speccy
Recuva
MS Office
Serif WebPlus x8 (i know, it's old but I prefer this version)
Chirp (Amateur/Business radio programming software)

Audio/Video Tools

K-LiteCodec Pack (Audio/Video codecs) (Will I actually need it?)

I think I will leave it at that for now.... I have a long list to go through but I have already found some alternatives to my "must have" programs/add-ons/tools.

Instructions ? WHAT?!?!?! A man don't need instructions!       Oh............wait a minute...........................What's this bit for?  aaaaaagh!!

Just now, williamcll said:

Just how is that helpful?  Seriously, how is that helping?? Explain to me, in detail, how that answer helps???

If you want to troll, go elsewhere please.

I have a dual-boot system with MacOS as the master OS and Win7U as the secondary. I am in a situation that I need to run and learn about MacOS, hence my OP.

If you’re okay with paid,

Microsoft does have word for Mac

otherwise you can use Libre office which is one of the most popular open source office programs.

Mac OS has “time machine” which is sorta like recuva.

Here are some alternatives

https://formac.informer.com/search/?q=Recuva

I don’t know many of the other software and I’m on mobile but that should get you started at least.

Apple has a lot of built in programs like movies, GarageBand & more. They are really easy and really powerful.

Edit:

programs apps and websites section has a pinned thread about free and open source alternatives to popular programs.

Thanks for the reply and the information.

I had not realised and thus was not aware of the pinned thread you mention as I am still "finding my feet", as-it-were, with this forum.
