So my system is "decent" enough component wise.  I don't really struggle to run many games, but I notice that I have a large problem with heat management, mainly due to my motherboards single fan connector slot. I am looking for some recommended system upgrades, although I was planning on doing the motherboard mainly.

Current specs:

GPU: GTX 1070

CPU: i5-6600 (I know, its not clockable, debating on upgrading)

Ram: 16GB DDR4 (no issues here)

Case: Corsair 540 AIR

CPU Cooler: Stock intel.  (This is definitely getting upgraded, but I am debating between watercool/Noctua)

SSD: 1TB Samsung

HDD: 2 TB Seagate.

Motherboard: ASUS Rock H170M Pro4.  (Has a single 3pin fan connector and my case currently has 3 fans, would love to get some more airflow in here.)

Let me know if anyone has any recommendations.  Not looking to dump an obscene amount here, at that point I would just build a new PC but I don't think I am at that point yet.  Budget, probably $300-$500 MAX, lower the better obviously.

Thanks in advance!

Get a molex/sata connector for your fans, that will eliminate the need to upgrade motherboard. Other than that your cpu. What games are you struggling to play if any? Meybe upgrade peripherals.

Not really struggling at all, but my main problem is airflow due to the fans.  I'll look into the SATA Connector.  I figured I had some cash laying around I may as well bump something up if possible.

Yeah no point in upgrading that system if you dont need more performance. I would save your money for something else or when you upgrade your whole platform(cpu socket and all)

Good to know.  Do you happen to have any recommendations for a fan extender?  I have 3x 3pin fans and a single 4pin connector .

Sorry for late reply, a quick search and I found one that runns off a sata port, you can plug the single cable into your motherboard for fan controll and the ports fit 3 and 4 pin fan leads. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811999309&ignorebbr=1&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-PC&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-PC-_-pla-_-Accessories+-+Case+%2F+Rackmount-_-N82E16811999309&gclid=CjwKCAjw2rjcBRBuEiwAheKeLwxAJ44HmSgC4LeOHGL7jC5J9v0972yCn1e-cbLbY0I00Y9HVFqDVRoCTfYQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
