Waterblock mounting

So I have a MSI get 1080 armor 8G OC

The waterblock forms EK's aluminum line fits the MSI aero 8G OC

And a couple other MSI and obviously a ton of other 1080's in general.

I'm just curious as to if they are different mounting wise? I get they are different cards, but wouldn't they be the same basic platform?

They have a list of the block and what they fit on their site. 

They wont be the same unless it says so. There will be images of the pcb's aswell.
