I've been on the hunt for a new monitor for a while now. Mine is on it's way out plus it's real basic. I'm looking for a lot though. If I could build a monitor well then I'd want...

27"-30" ultra wide but not curved.

144Hz

At least 2K resolution so 2560x1440

1ms response would be cool

At least 400 cd/㎡ would be nice but not killer

I dabble in Photoshop I'd like a good color space. I mean 100% Adobe RGB is asking way to much but something close-ish would be nice.

Did I mention no curved?

I've been shopping around and that doesn't exist as far as I can find but I am asking for a bit too much. I'm sure I'll come across something eventually.

What do you guys use?/Like?.

Nah I need my 144Hz and really as long as it's at least 27" I'm cool. I just don't like curved.

honestly your best bet then is multiple monitors. Premium 27-30 inch ultrawides are rare. Also, color accurate 144hz displays are too.

That's the thing what I want just doesn't exist :( I will have to make some sacrifices but 144Hz won't be one of them. I can handle it not being ultra wide it would just be neat to have.

I'll look more into it

You might want to wait out for the XB273K, it ticks your boxes.

I'll look more into it. 4K is nice but it ups the price way up and makes 144Hz hard without OC'ing if I'm right. Isn't it true that DP 1.4 can't actually do 4K at 144? I could totally be wrong.

Okay I think my best option is this to ditch the ultra wide and just go with 2 27" monitors one at 144Hz at like 2K resolution  and one that's not 144Hz but is 27" 4K with like 90-100% Adobe RGB. More money than just one but better overall.

Btw this is my current setup.

These 2 would be great but that Dell is pricey the Asus is a little cheaper and has a 1ms response time.

Actually this Dell is cheaper https://pcpartpicker.com/product/VV7v6h/dell-u2718q-270-3840x2160-60hz-monitor-u2718q

Well the first one I wouldn't go for. It's a TN panel and the 1ms is a G2G value, it's of no importance and the thing actually has more latency regarding other color switches. It's way too expensive for a TN monitor. When you can have its IPS with the Acer I linked to, it just doesn't make sense.

The Dell is fine, but there is a giant leap between the UP2718Q and the U2718Q. You're paying the extra $500 for local array dimming, true 10-bit etc.. just a far higher end panel over all. The U2718Q is NOT %100 Adobe RGB capable. In fact, given that it's an 8-bit LG panel with FRC, I'd expect it to perform worse than the AU Optronics (Acer) Benq I linked to, which is a 10-bit monitor.

For watching movies you want it to work at 98 HZ at 4k for 4:4 chroma. Beyond that, the monitor loses color and starts somewhat banding. Though you can probably easily do like 175-180HZ with it at 2k, it's a more capable monitor than the older G-Sync IPS panels.

Yeah, the 1080 won't quite cut it at 4k. You might want to consider a 2080 Ti also, it would do justice to that monitor.
