Build Advice (Optane)

2. Aim Gaming/workstation (R / SQL data crunching)

3. Monitors  2 monitors @ 1080P

4. Peripherals  Windows 10 

5. Why are you upgrading  Currently have 1st Gen I7 core with 98 with SSD.  I have around 20GB of storage left on 2TB drive, thanks to steam. 

 

My idea is to build something similar to linus' video on the HD with optane but I wonder if 32GB is enough cache on 3TB drive? Considering ARK and other games are easily 20 GB.  Does PCI-E optane work as a cache aswell?

Future proofing is a must, don't plan on upgrading for at least another 5-8 years.

The PCI-E Optane is an SSD. If you want to have that, at least look for the 480GB 905P. Your budget allows it, and it seems like it would fit in your usage. It's very fast (I own the 280 PCI-E 900P) but pretty much just as expensive.
