For your budget you can look into CFL-H laptops like Dell G5/G7, Lenovo Y530, HP Omen dc, Eluktronics NB50TK1 and CyberpowerPC Tracer III. MSI GL is fine but have questionable QC+QA. Other options may not have good cooling/build quality

Get something with an i7 and GTX 1050

Or an R5 2500U machine if you only need to run games like Dota 2 or Fortnite, CPU is comparable to the 4c/8t i7s I think, but GPU is naturally weaker.

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

Yes, the gpu is weaker, and probably won't run well the latest AAA titled games at highest settings, but that compromise is accepted.

The 8th gen i7 H & HQ processors are expensive.

The Matebook D appears to be the best Ryzen APU laptop avalible. Though it should really be closer to $500

The forbes says 'aggressively priced', and it does look high. Vega 8 is indeed better than the intel igpu, though idk if the TDP has any impact on the graphic performance

I'm from Bangladesh, got 700-900$ budget, could do weight lifting if necessary, and I don't run on battery.

Seriously didn't give any thought on the weight of the device. For basic tasks 4-5hr battery-life is good I guess

And where are you from, if I may ask

Are you buying from US? So weight and battery life don't matter much to you?

I'm from Malaysia

I'm from Malaysia

of course Battery-life is important. Do you think 4-5 hr battery too low (without gaming)?

The first laptop mentioned is available only in USA at the price range I could get. If it gets convenient then US is good option to buy.

Greeting from Bangladesh!

Exactly this kind of stuff is what I wanted to know, thank you very much.

QC+QA issue with MSI budget gaming laptops in general or for that particular model?

Does Eluktronics build their laptop with desktop i5 8400?

Tracer III, Y530, G5 & G7 goes beyond the budget, though I found G3. So, Dell has good durability and build quality of components than the listed ones?

Very common in MSI low end models (GV, GF, GL), sometimes including mid range ones (GP, GE)

It's based on Clevo NB50TK1 (1050TI) which is the successor of the popular W650KK1

DON'T look at brand. Every brand has good and bad models, so as Dell

G3 has OK-mediocre cooling, wouldn't recommend (same cooling performance as models like Nitro 5 and Pavilion Gaming)

  • 1 month later...

Thanks GeneXiS_X for your informative replies. Understanding why you suggested those laptops really revealed what to look for while buying laptops.

I regretfully tell you that the plan had been changed, that was the reason for this ridiculously delayed response.

However, if I had to choose, now it would have been either the Lenovo Y730 or ASUS ROG scar / hero editions.

Anyways, thanks again & cheers!!!

Both are great, however Y730 is slightly more portable and has slightly better cooling (compared to GL503GE)
