so im waiting for a wireless adapter to come and i have been "trying" to connect to the internet via Ethernet cable to my laptop and when i bridge the connections it stays on for a while but drops out. i also tried going into adapter settings and turning on shared connections and it comes up with the error in the trouble shooter... "DNS server not responding" and when i bridge the connections "default gateway not available" my room to too far away to connect via Ethernet

You can't just bridge between a WiFi client and ethernet because WiFi in plain client mode doesn't have a way to specify the MAC address to deliver traffic to, so it only goes to the client which then doesn't know where that traffic was supposed to go.

WiFi bridges have to use a special (as I understand it completely none-standard) mode WDS Access Point and WDS Client to do that.  Simple WiFi bridge adapters (for connecting none-WiFi devices) only have a single ethernet port, as they simply forward the traffic to that one client.

Internet sharing should have worked though, did you double check it was sharing the right adapter?  (should be though, WiFi is the only option on my laptop)
