Hey,
I want to get a new CPU, but I am unsure which team I should pick, and then even which CPU I should get.
I've been using the intel i7 4790K since launch now, and while it still does most of what I want it to do, I want to sell it to my girlfriend for cheap who wants a Desktop computer for, and I'll use the opportunity to upgrade my own.

I use my computer both as a workstation and a gaming Computer.
I sometimes render videos and edit photos with the Adobe suite, but also have to simulate physical particle interactions for university now and then. However, It is mainly used for gaming.

And now that Ryzen has been out for a while, and Intel has responded what is the current situation?
I want a CPU more in the enthusiast side of things thinking around 400-550 Euros

Any thoughts?

With that amount of money for a cpu, might as well go for threadripper 1st gen :D

But  u do game, so why not hold your horses first and wait for 9th gen announcement in September - October.

Maybe u can get an i9 9900k.

You should wait and see how expensive is the new 8C/16T intel mainstream cpu, they should disclose the price in a week or two, at this particular moment 8700K would be the obvious answer. You should keep in mind the cooling investment. Judjing by current standards Intel will release a toasty behemoth, so watercooling may be the way to go.
