Let's talk memory

So, let's say I get 4 sticks of 4gb ddr4 instead of 2 sticks of 8gb ddr4. 

Now would this effect my performance at all? I think it would be very aesthetically pleasing but I'm not willing to sacrifice function for form.

If it's a dual channel board, it's essentially the same. If it's a quad channel board, 4x4GB can actually be better if put in the correct slots. In terms of real world performance, it makes basically no difference for most applications.
