SSD vs Optane

I have a system with 1 TB WD Harddisk, Should I go with 250 GB SSD or Optane memory?

^^^ SSD. Overall they'll be faster because you can get a bigger capacity and run more stuff off the SSD, and you don't need any special software moving files around in the background to keep relevant stuff on the solid state storage.

Optane would let you keep your system as is and just get more speed.

 

A new SSD forces you to start over but that might not be a bad thing. You can also use your existing HDD as a data drive and literally just leave it as is, just select the SSD as the boot device. You also have the added benefit of keeping the HDD as a backup bootable system in case you need to troubleshoot the install on your SSD.
