Hi,

I am soon getting a watercooled rig and I was wondering : can I remove the hard drives of my rig to make more space, put them in an other rig and launch applications like games over the network ? (1Gb/s)

The OS will be stored on an SSD.

I guess in theory if you were to mount the optical drive as a network drive. Rip everything as an iso and mount in daemon tools

Yep, of course its possible, a lot of people use network storage. There is a very small amount of overhead when using network resources vs local ones but you probably won't notice anything on gigabit.

So I can for example, play BF3 even if it is installed on a netwrok drive ? That's cool.

You can do anything on networked drives in windows, just be sure to not unplug the server while you are gaming :)

You can't play bf3 over internet storage, retarded punkbuster is somehow not communicating with the server, so it will kick you after 30 sec, also farcry3 will not install over net, cod black ops will not start (talking from personal experience, with original games)

Playing games that are installed on network drive is not recommended. You will have issues for sure!
