Some Macs use ECC (Error Correcting Code) ram, which only works in server class motherboards or CPUs.

So you have to check model numbers and spec sheets.

Just checked, I bought RAM with ECC... going to return it.

I had the same happen, but was not my fault, as I eventually saw they put 2 different model numbers on different parts of the listings. :/
