Just extend the cable and plug it in?

You should be able to as well through realtek (or whichever driver) select output through front and back at the same time or keep it default mute back when front is plugged in.

This is a cheap way and probably going to be the least invasive.
The cheapest way to fix this would be to manually splice and extend the wires. I'd recommend you don't do this if you have no idea and can't ensure a clean/proper job.

the headphone jack on my case doesn't work (the cable for it doesn't reach the pins on my motherboard) and I really want to be able to plug in my speakers and my earbuds at the same time, so I guess I need a soundcard. (not anything expensive tho, don't want the Soundblaster model 1337 that's like $1,000,000 or something)
