I think that gaming at "decent settings" is something you can achieve with that i3 system anyways. You could get the i7 but skylake is quite old by today's standards. The question is if you really need it.

So will it not last long ? And I'm getting alot of freezing in games I think it's my CPU bottlenecking my GPU

World moving to 6-8 core CPUs, so it's quite awkward to recommend a quadcore CPU. It will serve you well with a 1060. The thing becomes more of an issue if you are planning to upgrade your GPU in the near future. Try to get it cheap or don't get it at all if you plan to keep it for more than 2 years.

Well a 6700 still has 8 threads so you should be fine for a few years at least, most games are still optimized for 4 cores, and even though newer ones support more cores, that doesn't mean they need them to run well.

If it's any help, my 4c/8t i7 950 (first gen i7, released 2009) still runs games like Battlefront and Destiny at 1080p60fps on med low, paired with a GTX 660. (I get fps drops in big open areas in Destiny but I got those on my main rig with a 4Ghz 6c/12t Xeon too).

Ok, I know what I'm going to do I'm going to sell my gpu and cpu and with the money I get from that and some extra money, I'm going to buy a used gtx 1070 8gb and a i7 6700. I was going to get a 144hz monitor but I think I should focus spending my money on my PC first, I will stick with my 1080p@75hz 1ms monitor for now. Thanks for the help
