Corsair Node and Hub

Got 4 RGB corsair fans today. Bought pre owned with all boxes. I got he node wnd the hub with 6 fan connecters. I plugged the node usb cable into a usb header on mobo. I plugged all satas in. Fans are connected to the hub and I have the 3 pin going from the node to the hub. I just got a new mobo and dont have windows installed yet, but the fans wont light up. They spin but no light ip. When I unplugged the node and plugged it back in the PC shut off and wouldnt turn on until I unplugged it. I switched the node, hub, and HDD sata power around and it stopped, but still no light. Any suggestions?

Is it a possibility that I would need windows and the software to light it? I would expect it to light up somr color even without but im not syre

Update: the software  was able to bring teo fan lights on in ports one and two. But will not light my other two
