Really CHEAP Starter Build

Car712

Hello, so recently I have started upgrading some of my older computers using parts on ebay, and I have now decided that I should try and make a more 'modern' build. I pretty much need the bare basics, to start off, and I will most likely upgrade it later for gaming. I am wondering if anyone here can check out the parts I currently have selected, make sure that they will all be compatible, and maybe recommend different parts if needed?

Heres what I have selected currently:

Motherboard: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157733&ignorebbr=1&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-PC&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-PC-_-pla-_-Motherboards+-+Intel-_-N82E16813157733&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIl7eHxuHd3AIVmbjACh1htA4kEAQYAiABEgLtX_D_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

CPU: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA2W06WH0421&cm_re=celeron-_-19-117-748-_-Product

RAM (4GB): https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA7S67CE5088&cm_re=4gb_ddr3_ram-_-9SIA7S67CE5088-_-Product

SSD: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA9TS3N29982

Power Supply: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817438130

(I couldn't really find if the motherboard supported this type of power supply)

Display: Using a already owned old dell VGA display

Graphics Card: None (At the moment)

Case: Plastic piece, or cardboard box (For the time being)

how old is your "old" build (what CPU)

Its an old Dell Dimension 4500, with a (upgraded) Pentium 4 3.06 GHz (Socket 478) Hyperthreading CPU

This (obviously) is not my daily use PC, I have a fairly good HP laptop

ok makes sense, what do you hope do do on this computer

Im hoping to do mostly, Web Browsing, and some new-ish steam games that dont require alot of resources. (Im guessing that games like GTA 5 would not run on my planned build). Again, I do plan to upgrade this later so that I can play more modern games and eventually make it my main PC.

I wouldn't build yet. It's below average, and I feel like you could do a lot better with this build.

What is your budget?

yeah that build should work, a little money could be saved if you use a HDD instead of an SSD.

you will find many games will not run extremely well (as you would know from your current computer)

My budget at the time is around $150-170, however I will definitely upgrade it later, with a graphics card and such.

Yes, the old Dell DImension (although I upgraded its CPU and put in 2GB of RAM), can only play mostly retro games.

my first build was using a Pentium so the struggles were great. i understand the money concerns as that's how i was as well but when you get a good setup you will love the computer more as you know a few of the struggles haha

Yeah. I simply wouldn't build yet. With new hardware coming out constantly, it'll probably push ryzen/intel 6th gen to be less expensive. I'd at least wait until I have 400 bucks or more, and wait for a sale.
