PCI-e x1 Riser?

I have an Asus P8Z77-V LX with a boat load of expansion cards and I want to add one more, but I am out of "free" PCI-e slots.

I have a dual slot GPU covering the last free PCI-e x1 connector and was wondering if there was a decent riser that I could jam under there and allow me to use the last slot. I looked around a little and did not find anything that looked like it would work.

basically you gotta find one of these super basic ones

https://www.quietpc.com/st-pcie-1x-riser

they dont have a tall pbc mount so they fit almost snugly inside the slot, meaning the top of the riser wont interfere with the cable or the bottom of the gpu

How does the lack of shielding effect that?

literally not at all

its a riser cable, its just taking X exposed pins and exposing them elsewhere

one of the biggest tech memes ever is RF shielding and isolation and all that, youre not gonna notice the difference between a basic adapter and one that costs like 80$

It is important, but not as much in some areas as others.

After looking under my GPU am not sure any of the risers are low enough profile to fit, might I need to make my own or something?

If I do maybe use a ribbon cable so it's low profile and can be folded and easily routed outside the case in a slot.
