Stop Netflix from compressing

i have a 1080p display and a 200mb connection so there should be no reason for my netflix stream to look like a bunch of squares

There's this plugin for Google Chrome which forces Netflix to play at 1080p. Hope this helps.

It's not possible to get an uncompressed stream. Uncompressed 1080p video is nearly 3Gbit/s. 

 

If you aren't getting the standard 1080p stream, then you may be using a configuration that doesn't natively support 1080p Netflix. Their guidelines are here; you'll want to use IE, Edge or the Netflix App on Windows to get 1080p playback. For 4k you need to use Edge.

 

The previous comment from @bellabichon about forcing Chrome to respond to Netflix as a ChromeOS content handler and wildvine arbitrator is not 100% compatible with all Netflix content, and uses (requires) software decoding. You'll get high CPU usage and bad battery life (if on a laptop), but it is an alternative if you don't run Windows 10 or choose not to use Edge or IE.
