Restoring Old computer

Need advice, on using old laptop and turning into work station for basic computing needs and mild gaming.

 

Unit is a alienware m18x  i7 with dual graphics card. SSD. 7 years old.

 

Was thinking of buying a 34inch with 21:9 aspect ratio (3440x1440) And other peripherals like new keyboard and mouse. Do you think the unit will be able to work well at that resolution?

Yes it'll work but if you want it run in higher refresh rates,check if laptop has hdmi 2.0 ports or a displayport.Otherwise i dont see any problem of it not working.
