hey everybody, first post here so lets see how it goes! i'm new to PC building and would love some tips or ideas about what i wanna do. for the full set up(being the monitor, peripherals, and the desktop itself i have a budget of around $2,500. i'm building this system so that it doesn't need to be upgraded in the near future(being anything before 3 years) i'm going to be building in the meshify c with a ryzen 7 2700x, at least 16 gigs of ram, but im not sure what to do for a gpu. i don't want to do anything lower then a 1080 but would a 1080ti be worth putting in? also with those specs what would you guys recommend i play on for resolution(as im building this pc to be a gaming pc), i was thinking 1920x1080 would be fine, but would 2560x1440 be worth it?

At this point, i'd rather u save the money and wait until end of the month and get the 11-series Nvidia cards or save a bit more on the 1080ti when the new card is out.

And why not go for i7? They're the bomb compared to AMD's.

You either want 1440p 144hz IPS with a new monitor, or 4k 60hz IPS

Wouldn't go past a 1070ti/1080 for the best value.

Are you doing anything that requires 8 or more cores? Because you could easily get Threadripper 2 for that budget coming shortly.

Better off with an IPS free-sync version instead for daily use.

If you're buying extra fans Noctua is the way to go.

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

I think compared to Ryzen, single core & quad core performance is better on the i7 8700k because not many softwares can fully utilize Ryzen's 8 cores. And it's just a difference of 30 dollar.

if you're just gaming, an i7 8700k will be the better option.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Heatsink: Gelid Phantom Black GPU: Palit RTX 3060 Ti Dual RAM: Corsair DDR4 2x8GB 3000Mhz mobo: Asus X570-P case: Fractal Design Define C PSU: Superflower Leadex Gold 650W

while it will be primarily a gaming pc, id like to dabble in things like unity and video editing, the heavy application of the pc will be gaming but it will do a few other things as well

not wrong but personally i dont see much of a performance difference be tween the two except for maybe a few frames, both are exceptional cpus in their own applications
