Hello all,

I've run in to a problem. Recently I build a new, cool mini ITX build to make my computer more portable - doesn't need SLI og big tower coolers or anything.

Anyway. It's an MSI B360 Gaming Pro Wifi Mobo, a Corsair CX550 PSU and the we have the GPU.

I installed this with an old Asus GTX970 card I had lying around and everything worked fine.

Then I wanted to install my MSI GTX 1080 - except that in the Cooler Master Elite 130 case it's a tight fit (the backplate rubs against the 5,25" bracket that is not removable) - the problem is black screen and no signal no matter what. The GPU turns on and Windows boots

So here is what I've tried:

1080 works fine in my primary pc, so does the 970, so it's not a dead GPU

970 works fine on the new MSI mobo build, so it's not a dead PCI-E or mobo

970 works fine with both HDMI and DP on the new mobo and on multiple monitors

1080 does not work with neither HDMI or DP on multiple monitors.

The problem seems to be the combo of the MSI B360 and the MSI 1080 GPU. The PSU is a 550 watts which should be enough. Difference is that the 1080 uses both an 8-pin PCIE connector and a 6-pin PCIE connector, while the 970 uses only an 8-pin PCIE connector (6+2 to be exact). I've tried both 8 pin connectors on the 970 from the PSU and they both have power.

The monitor in question is an Asus MG278Q and I've tried turning it off for 30 secs and all that stuff. Also I've checked to use the PCIE GPU in Bios, otherwise the 970 wouldn't work.

Any ideas?

Have you tried an out of the box test with the MSI mobo and the 1080? Test the combo outside of the case so we can rule out if your case is cursed.

If you find any grammar or spelling errors please fill out entry permit A38, thanks.
