diablo 2 tcp/ip setup problem

I am trying to play multiplayer Diablo 2 with my brother. I am doing this with my local network and put everything in and every time i get can not connect to server. I forwarded the ports and allowed the game through the firewall on both my rig and laptop. I am using the right IP. Any idea on things i am missing or how to fix?

My rig  case- Graphite 600t white CPU-i5 3570k OC 4.0Ghz RAM- 8gb Vengeance memory HDD-WD Black 1tb PSU-tx650 GPU- MSI 770 gameing edition 2gb , gtx 650 1gb Motherboard- asrock extreme 3 z77 Fan controller- NZXT sentry lx CPU cooler- H60 Peripherals- g300 mouse G630 headset k70 silver cherry mx red switches  my free nas nas Case- Dell something.. Ram- 8 gb ecc ddr 2 CPU - Pentium D 3.0ghz HDD currently 160 gb adding 3tb wd red “Sucking at something is the first step to being sorta good at something” –Jake the Dog

do you have any firewall (like windows firewall) enabled? if you do just disable it and see if it works

I'm not the only one playing Diablo 2. YAY!

i5 4670k @ 4.2GHz (Coolermaster Hyper 212 Evo); ASrock Z87 EXTREME4; 8GB Kingston HyperX Beast DDR3 RAM @ 2133MHz; Asus DirectCU GTX 560; Super Flower Golden King 550 Platinum PSU;1TB Seagate Barracuda;Corsair 200r case.

Just tried and still nothing.
