I've spent the past 2 months selecting/researching all of the parts for my first build, so here it is: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/TheOneLasagna/saved/GLbXP6

I feel like I am overpaying for this compared to other equivalent builds, so any suggestions and comments on new/better parts would be appreciated.

I wouldn't say you are over paying. But I think you could save about 40-50 on a different motherboard, and maybe a few bucks on a different PSU and keyboard. Otherwise, I think you have a very solid build.

(obviously it will cost a bit more, but you may want to look into the 8600k, that way you have the ability to overclock your CPU, especially if you are getting a z370 board. Otherwise get a H370, B360, H310 board for cheaper)

Main Rig: cpu: Intel 6600k OC @ 4.5Ghz; gpu: Gigabyte Gaming OC RTX 2080 (OC'd); mb: Gigabyte GA-Z170X-UD3; ram: 16 GB (2x8GB) 3000 G.Skill Ripjaws V; psu: EVGA 650BQ; storage: 500GB Samsung 850 evo, 2TB WD Black; case: Cooler Master HAF 912; cooling: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo, Lots of fans, Air!; display: 4k Samsung 42" TV, Asus MX259H 1080p audio: Schiit Audio Magni Amp w/ Audio Technica M50x

Agreed.  You could go with a lower end cooler too since you can't OC that CPU.

I suggest highly suggest changing your cooler, it's overkill for a locked CPU. I recommend the Arctic Freezer 33 eSports One, it's a great budget option and cools well.

If you want to go even further down the line, something like a Cryorig C7 would still do the job just as well.

Okay thanks for the suggestions, does anyone have any more suggestions for a good 300-series chipset board?(I’m gonna stick with the i5 8400)
