Raspberry Pi security system help

I am starting to work on a security system for our house, and im using raspberry pi's. I have looked at the tutorial video from linus, and looked at this page: 

. The question I have is, how do i link them all to the main Pi as the server, and how do i set up a raid array for the storage? I'm planning on getting 4x 2tb hdds, and need to connect them to the PI 3 for storage... help?
