For my new PC which I will be putting together soon I want to put an RGB system in it. I am stuck between getting a CORSAIR iCue system or going with Asus Aura. I think I’m leaning towards the Corsair system because I wouldn’t have to get a gaming motherboard (to save costs) but the problem with corsair is I’d have to swap the case fans from the Cooler Master Lite 5 RGB so I just want to know what everyone thinks

Well let's see.

Asus Aura provides control over Aura compatible hardware and peripherals. Same for Corsair.

However, pretty much 90% of Corsair's products support iCUE, so you have quite a big selection. BUT, this also means that motherboard, and GPU cannot be controlled by iCUE since Corsair doesn't make those. RAM, yes.

So from Corsair you can have control over (Corsair products only): RAM, AIO's, Fans, LED strips, Keyboards, Mice, Headsets, Mousepads, etc...

And while iCUE software is amazing and has a huge amount of lighting effects and possibilities it still might have bugs (mine does from time tot ime).

Mind you, all of these softwares have bugs.

This will come in handy:

Corsair was the one I was leaning towards because I also much prefer their peripherals to ones made by ROG. I’m not really that bothered about motherboard and GPU RGB so that’s alright. Do you think that the Commander Pro would support 4 case fans and 4 RGB strips?

The Commander pro supports up to 6 fans. The PMW control goes into the Commander, while the RGB controls go into a smaller HUB that is provided with 2 or 3-pack fans and then that LED HUB connects into one of the 2 ports for LEDs on Commander. The strips can also be connected to the Commander but since it has 2 ports only, one will be used by the LED Hub for fans, you will only have one more. Technically you can daisy-chain about 6-8 strips PER port. But I would recommend getting a Lighting Node Pro that has 2 ports for the LED strips.

I myself don't use Lighting Node Pro, but instead have a LED HUB for fans and the one remaining port on Commander is used to daisy-chain 5 strips that I have linked all over my PC and the table (I use extension cables that are included).

I updated the above post with a diagram to help you understand better.

So do I need to have the RGB fan hub for 4 case fans or can they just be plugged straight into the commander

The RGB headers for fans cannot be plugged into the Commander. The HUB will come with a pack of fans or you can buy it somewhere for like $10.

Ok perfect. Sorry if this sounds like a stupid question but do you need different types of fans for exhaust and intake or do you just turn them around?

No worries.

Well I assume you want to go with either Corsair's LL or HD series, correct?

If so, depending on the case you have, place two/three INTAKE fans in front and one OUTTAKE fan in the back along with another OUTTAKE fan at the top if possible (but not needed). Basically, just have for intake 1 fan more. And yes, you flip them depending on what configuration you want. Each fan has a set of arrows showing in which direction the air flows.

What’s the difference then between the LL and HD series? Also do I have to get separate types of fans for outtake and intake

The difference is the looks mostly. LL ones have more LED's per fan and give you more control over effects. Also more expensive.
