so this is weird. I noticed this when I was playing gta online

settings: 1366x768, mix of normal/high settings (basically the same settings on both systems)

i5 3570, gtx 970, 12gb ram- runs good but has a lot of framedrops to high 30s. cpu almost always at 100%. gpu sitting mostly at 40%-50%.

i5 3570, gtx 1050, 10gb ram- runs at a higher fps compared to the system above and rarely drops to below 60. cpu and gpu sits mostly around at 80%

i just found it weird that it runs like this. how do i fix it? I tried having dsr on to make it gpu bound but my cpu is still on 100%

Sounds like its just different performance from different generations of card tbh. Maybe the 970 is on it's way out?

i just noticed that but a 970 should be more than capable of taking over the 1050 in most games. I play almost the same games between the 970 and 1050 and it runs better now and with higher settings. gta online is the only game that behaves like this

my 970 works very fine without drops...

did you try reinstalling the 970 drivers, maybe an older version? use ddu for this

what does the frequency curve of the 970 look like?

You need to offset that cpu usage to gpu

Since increasing resolution is not an option, try to use higher setting

or just set it to high/very high on 970

i'll test it out and see if it does anything.

I don't think it will go higher than that with that resolution, the question is does it run better than before?

i didnt max aa up because thats too much.. it does run a tad smoother but the framedrops are still there only reduced (tested on 2 benchmarks). I'm just concerned because on my system when i still had the 1050, it runs really smooth and cpu usage wasn't a big deal. now the only thing i changed is the amount of ram and replaced the 1050 with a 970 and now the cpu usage is always pinned at 100%

another thing i noticed is that even with v-sync off and i removed the framecap on rivatuner, the game only runs up to 60 fps

I'm just guessing it's the OS issue here, try to swap your 1050 for 970 since the machine with 1050 running just fine.

i sold my 1050 to get the 970.. i'm gonna test if its really an os issue but this will take time

What GTX 970 did you get?

Hopefully you didn't get the fake version of gtx 970.

its an evga gtx 970 ssc.. it checks out. i'm not sure if this issue is because of the vram issue the 970 has.. vram usage hover around 3.5gb always

How did it go that high? with that resolution... already passing 3GB?

for some reason at only 1366x768 it is. mad max (released in 2015) only uses around less than 2gb.. something is definitely wrong there.

edit: i set the textures on normal (as setting it on high on this resolution doesn't look much different) and i noticed the game starts using around1.4gb but the longer i play the game,it keeps going up until it reaches 3.5gb

another edit: i installed windows 7 on my secondary drive in a partition and it runs way better than what i was experiencing in windows 10
