Hiya,

I'm getting a pc as I'm trying to transition from Xbox to PC gaming, as well as being able to use for light video/photo editing and basic school work.

At the moment, my main game is fortnite, so I won't to be able to run that at 1440p with at least 110ish FPS on all epic settings.

I would also want it to be able to run basic chrome tabs like YouTube or twitch simultaneously as I have 2 awesome monitors.

I also want RGB as what's a pc without perfectly synced RGB?

I've made a build on pc part picker which I assume is slightly over the top but 1) I want to use for a while and take it to uni with me and 2) my knowledge on computing is relatively limited.

Any help would be appreciated!

If you change the CPU to the 8700 and swap some parts, you could get a 1080 Ti. That would be much better in games, with only a slight hit to purely CPU related tasks.

As I said I'm at bit of a noob, but doesn't CPU also affect gaming performance? Or is it just the difference between a 1080 and a 1080ti is way more than a 8700 Vs 8700k?

If you want to multitask, get the Ryzen 2700x. It has an air cooler (with red RGB), so you don't have to buy another one and you would get much more advantage of the RAM. Also, the money you save can be used for 1080 ti. If you want to do some heavy OC though, you would have to get a better cooling solution.

It can, but in this case, the upgrade to the 1080 Ti would net you a much bigger performance boost.

The CPU matters when the CPU is the limiting factor.
