Hey all, long time lurker here.

Has anyone heard of this Shadow Online Gaming? It is basically streaming a remote session from the companies servers, but from the demos I have seen, it looks pretty impressive.

Right now it is mostly in EU but they have one server in California (which they seem to only want you to use if you are in California...maybe a latency thing).

But overall it looks pretty cool.

Thought people here might have an interesting perspective, or LTT could look into it....if they even can from where they are. Sadly it is pretty pricey haha.

Not gonna lie, seems kinda...shady...

Yeah I don't know. I had never heard such a thing. To be honest I work in Corporate IT and do all sorts of virtual work including VDI. And it seems to good to be true. I saw a vlog from someone in EU that shows it and it looks cool...but yeah.

I can share a link to the youtube video if that is okay on here?

It was a pun, they're called "Shadow" Online Gaming so they'd be "shady"...I'll show myself the door xD

Honestly it all depends on what your latency to their servers would be. If you're just playing RPG games then it won't matter that much but FPS games would be a pain due to input lag and other latency issues.

Haha sorry...I'm slow today....worked a long weekend haha.

Yeah for some games sure, but they were showing like PUBG and Fortnite at full settings, as well as some other games I can't remember now.

I think NVIDIA has a game streaming service already. Some other companies were getting into it too. (Presuming I understood what you’re talking about.)

Call me old fashioned but I’m not about that spend money every month to stream games like Netflix. I’d prefer to just own the game or not own it. If games went up to $100 & 1 month of streaming was $5, I’d still buy games just because I own it forever.

There's actually few services and devices/software which are doing this. I don't have time nor resources to test any myself, so I'm waiting until some tech youtuber does the testing. Paperspace is another.

I've recently started using this service and its been a good experience so far.  I do have very good internet though, this is not something I'd want to try if I didn't.

It is in my opinion slightly overpriced for a monthly service, £27 a month, but when you factor in that you essentially have a £2000 gaming PC for the price at the ready for you to abuse, it suddenly seems reasonable.  I have experienced no bugs, crashes or issues with the Shadow client, though I have heard that some games do not function perfectly.  I have yet to see this, but I only play a few games. (Rust, Farming Sim, Cities:Skylines)

I have to recommend this service because of my experience so far.  If I never have to buy computer parts again this service has done its job.

You can get your first month for £16 if you get a discount code from any active user.  If you want one just send me a message.

If you try a month and don't like it you've not really lost anything, that was why I tried it, and I'll be sticking with it for some time I imagine.

Hope I haven't rambled to much....
