Phantom Installer Keeps Executing

The other day I tried installing something from a disc, but the installer kept relaunching indefinitely, so I removed the disc and disconnected the external optical drive.  The problem now is sometimes it randomly tries to launch again but gives an error because the drive is not connected.  I have no idea where to start.
