PWM Pump - what is the benefit???

I am considering to build a custom water loop and i try to find the right pump for me. My system is built on a test bench so it is very important to me that the system runs quiet and that the build looks very clean and simple.

 

i want to cool a 4820k oc and a r9 290 with the loop.

Radiator: Phobya Xtreme NOVA 1080

 

So i thought about a pump-res combo:

Aquacomputer D5 with USB- link + Koolance Laing D5 pump top...

 

somebody recommended me a EK PWM pump because it is stronger than the D5 and it is PWM-controlled - but to be honest - i don´t really see the benefit in a PWM controlled pump - i rather like to controll the pump speed with software via USB...

 

What do you think? Has anybody some experience with the Aquacomputer D5 with USB- link?

Just get a D5 and turn the speed down.

^ What butterfish said, get dat D5, its the king of WC pumps as it can do everything, as you can just change it with the switch on the back of the pump, i have bad experiences with early USB controlled pumps and the software that was shit.

Aquacomputer's usb control is not that bad if you remember to update the firmware, at least on aquero 5. :F

 

And if you do not like usb control you can use manual control anyways
