I helped a friend of mine upgrade from phenom to ryzen, and he's purchased his CPU and motherboard, but has yet to get ram. He has to save up a while to get it, and I had recommended him an 8gb kit of ddr4-3000, but I'm wondering if he could get a cheaper kit to have his hands on it sooner. What is a decent frequency for ryzen 5 2600 in an x470 auros board, and what manufacturer?

edit: here's the kit i recommended him. it's on the qvl

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

With RAM prices right now, and how much Ryzen depends on RAM speeds, this is about the cheapest I would go.

What speeds are recommended to push for on this chip?
