yesterday i pulled apart my gtx 1070 aero to replace the thermal compound, after putting it back together i plugged it into my pc and turned it on,i noticed that the second monitor that was connected via a displayport to hdmi adapter was showing up in display settings and the nvidia control panel but the display was blank so i thought that the adapter gave up the ghost so i went today and bought a displayport to hdmi cable and when using this cable the display won't be recognized my the system(meaning that it doesn't show up anywhere)and the display is still blank im going to return the cable in a few days and buy another adapter but i have a suspicion that i may have damaged the ports in some way.

(forgot to mention my displays don't have a displayport input that's why i dont use a direct cable)

i have 1 display connected with hdmi that works but the other is blank and doesnt show up

If the adapter was working before it would definitely seem like something happened during the install, but sometimes computers are just dumb and make no sense. I would recommend trying an active adapter as opposed to passive one (unless you already were):
Plugable Active DisplayPort to HDMI 2.0 Adapter
