I have a problem where randomly my computer will blank red screen of death. I googled for ages looking for solutions and tried to interpret the errors it threw out in event viewer but I have had no luck.

I don't believe its the GPU as its a fairly new card and its not always under load when I get the RSOD. I will attach all the info I have below. let me know if you have any ideas!

Specs:

MOBO-- ASrock Z75 pro 3

CPU-- i7-3770k @ 4.6Ghz (stable)

GPU-- Asus RX 560 strix (no custom overclock, less then a year old)

OS-- WIndows 10 Pro on a 250GB mSSD

Error (when it shows it, sometimes I get nothing in event viewer):

Capture.PNG.65af7739396b3a474eb14f40701a5ec7.PNG

Report.html (hopefully I did that right XD, let me know if its wrong)

cant open the MEMORY.DMP file, its to big to open with notepad++ and notepad regular is just a garbled mess

let me know if you need anything else

Try lowering the powerlimit in Radeon Settings to 80%.

I have a pre-overclocked RX 560 that will crash in some games if I don't lower the max clock or lower the power limit.  For my situation, I don't think its the GPU chip itself, I think that the GPU voltage regulator is getting way too hot.  Under full stress the back of the PCB under the voltage regulator is too hot to touch.

ok, I will give that a try

@KarathKasun welp, you were half right. The problem is related to the GPU power, however its not the GPU itself. after some investigation and checking temps all over the computer I have discovered that its the MOBO VRM, it gets super hot all the time (even not under load) and I remembered that I never had this issue when running my 7870 Hawk because it drew from the power supply not the motherboard like the RX560.

almost 100% this is the issue, I guess for a used MOBO that was released in 2012 its done pretty well. Time for a upgrade I guess.

You could maybe reverse the rear fan or better yet suspend a fan over the VRMs with something like one of the flexible fan mounts for test benches. I have no idea if this would work with a standard case. You might even want to buy something way simpler like one of those flexible phone holders from a dollar store and mcgyver it to work in your case.

Not sure on what'd work best for you but a fan over the VRMs would make a massive difference.

I currently use a noctua nh-d15 which actually puts a lot of airflow over the VRM heatsink, doesn't seem to help though

Its not GPU power at all then, its CPU power.  The VRM on the MB has zero connection to the GPU, it supplies power to the CPU.

Reducing GPU clocks will reduce the load on the CPU (because lower FPS), thus reducing MB/CPU VRM temps.

Reduce CPU clocks/voltage to see if that is indeed the problem.

Right now I have my Audio Card installed so its a little less airflow, but it still gets a lot of moving cool air over it, and I had the same issue without the audio card

Can't see the VRM situation in that photo dude. It's on the other side. Opposite side than the ram.

It probably has a cruddy heatsink or something.

I would still try pointing a fan directly at it and see if that makes a difference.

If you plan on getting a new motherboard, I might suggest scaling down your multiplier and vcore for now in your bios. Just to reduce the load on that VRM for now, but yea a new mobo might be a good idea.

The motherboard VRM is under the "topmost" fan and is likely not getting any airflow.

Lol, ya my cooler is is kinda in the way for that photo, that's the D15 for ga XP

I've been chatting with a few other members on a build thread and we have all agreed that its time for me to upgrade anyway. Thanks for your help anyhow

Unless you are upgrading to a 1080 or better, the 3770k @ 4.6ghz (or even 4.4ghz if you need to drop the clocks/volts) will not be a problem.
