Hardware fault

Anyone know any software that can detect hardware faults?

 

On startup the PC makes a single beep from the motherboard.

Grab your motherboard manual, and search for boot codes or beeps. Then listen to the PC and follow along what is said in the manual.

that is completely normal assuming theres no issue when you boot into your OS

 

its called POST, or power on self test, and some motherboards have it, some dont

Definetly not a troll post!!

 

It has never made this beeping sound before.

ah, sorry then. my last motherboard made a beep sound everytime it booted up.

if its never done it before, google the model of your motherboard and search through the manual. 

it could be anything, but if there are no immediate symptoms then its fine to leave it

Some motherboards have a setting in the BIOS which allows you to activate or deactivate the POSTing beep. I'd check the motherboards BIOS to see if #1 your motherboard has this feature, and #2 if it does have this feature if it is currently on. If it is currently on then turn it back off again, and begin to contemplate just who in the poop was messing with your BIOS. If however it does not have the feature I mentioned it is definitely in your best interest to begin searching through the motherboard manual as it could be an indicator of a larger than auditory problem.

there are 2 beeps one is the  POST beep but i am sure the other isnt it is a difference pitch
