Hello everyone, I'm having some issues with my 1440p VA panel. I have a ryzen 7 1700x and a strix gtx1080 GPU. I don't have gsync on the panel. My goal with most game ar least is to get 144 fps since that's  what this panel supports. I seem to be having some issues acheiving this frame rate consistently. Particularly in Fortnite, both Save the Workd and Battle Royale. The fact that the frame rate drops a bit isn't a huge concern for me. The concern is that the game shudders for me a lot. I'm wondering what you all think is causing this to happen.

Try enabling Vsync in-game, that should help with stutters.

If Vsync is enabled, and the framerate fluctuates above and below 144FPS, you will feel a small stutter every time it goes below 144FPS. That's unavoidable with Vsync, and is one of the main reasons Gsync was developed.

It shouldn't be very bad with a 144Hz monitor though. It's much more noticeable with a 60Hz monitor.

It's probably v sync. Try turning it off. You'll get screen tearing then but it shouldn't be too bad as you have a 144 hz panel.

Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

You can also reduce your refresh rate to something like 100hz if you can maintain 100fps+.

144fps is fairly difficult to maintain in newer games.

So I lowered my refresh rate to 100hz. Seems to be helping. I never thought I'd need to with a gtx 1080
