Cant decide between a 780 or a R9 290...Windforce, Direct CUII or TwinFrozer versions. I originally wanted a R9 290 but this price increase is bullshit, I have the budget to pick one up but I feel like I'd be over paying. I use a 120Hz monitor at 1920x1080, so is a 780 still a good buy?

Thanks

I am personally more of an Nvida guy and since they cost about the same i would go for the 780. (DCU2) And if you decide to go with a R9 290 go for the DCU2. (None of these two cards is going to be able to push 120 fps in stuff like Crysis 3) (Also screw 120 Hz but 1440/1600)

My Pc: Cpu: I7 4790k @ 4,8 Ghz @1,25 volts, Motherboard: Maximus VII Formula, Graphicscard: 2x Titan X @1,4 at stock voltage (soon to be replaced), Ram: 32 gb Corsair Dominator Platinum 2133 Cl 9, SSD: 2x 850 Pro 1 Tb in Raid 0, 2x Samsung 840 Evo 1 tb raid 1,, PSU: Corsair HXi Series 1000W 80+ Platinum, Case: H440. Soon to be watercooled again, maybe, probably, the Titans are too loud.

what will you use it for?? gaming or rendering .

depending on what you want look at my forum post about amd vs Nvidia. AMD kinda wins when it comes to pros,

but with being in canada/america it depends, i would choose the R9 290 when the price stabilize :)

I mainly play games, getting BF4 with an AMD card is a nice bonus along with Mantle which has some nice potential but still not sure. Nvidia has nice features as well, at the end of the day I have to pick what ever will give me the best performance for my money.
